![]() It tucks away nice and neat, allowing me to fit more in my pack.Įven when using a larger backpack the 10.5 is still nice to have. It would seem like when you stuff these things away in a backpack it wouldn’t really matter all that much, but as you can see in the following pics when packing light with a smaller backpack (which I often do while cycling and such) the 10.5 really does shine. The 12.9 is also slightly thicker, and although it doesn’t look like much in a picture, it does feel quite a bit more “beefy” when handled in person.įor portability the 10.5 wins hands-down. Although an extra 2.4 inches of screen real-estate doesn’t sound like a whole lot, it really does translate to a much larger footprint. I own the 256GB WiFi+LTE 10.5, and a base model 256GB (WiFi only) 12.9.įor a quick size comparison, here’s the 10.5 laying on top of the 12.9. Now sheet music is roughly the size of an actual printed page, which is just awesome. This thing has been a godsend for me because I no longer have to keep binders full of sheet music, and I no longer have to struggle with music stand clip lights barely illuminating the pages, but what I did struggle with was the physical size of the tablet as reading sheet music on the stage was a bit of a struggle, but the 12.9 completely changed that. I know this review is late as these have been out for quite some time (and a refresh is due soon), but in a way that’s a good thing because I’ve had a lot of experience with these tablets, so it’s not just a “first impressions” type of review.įor a little context as to why I own both: I first went with the 10.5 and I fell in love with the damn thing, but I’m also an amateur musician on the side (bassist). As an owner of both I feel like my review will be mostly unbiased. I still see quite a few “should I get the iPad Pro 10.5 or 12.9” posts, so I figured that I would offer my opinions as someone who owns both.
